This guitar felt different to me the minute I held it, something extra was happening with it.
Playing it revealed the first of many qualities- primarily the amazing sound. It's balanced, loud without being over-bearing, the notes are crystal clear with the entire instrument seeming to work together to produce great tones throughout the entire spectrum (low- to high and back). Construction details which appear (from all accounts) to be superior to many of the other Selmer copies we've all seen, as you've pointed out in many of the invisible details the go into producing such a happy and singing instrument. I do find that this guitar challenges me to focus my tone (in both hands) but rewards the player with a gorgeous tone and projection. Having mostly played older Dupont guitars I may be less capable of describing the wonders of the Stringphonic, but for me, this guitar is a great leap forward in contemporary guitar building. The attention to detail, the thorough research into improving the construction and tone of the original Selmer design is clearly evident to me every time I pick it up to play. I could not be more pleased with my new guitar. Thanks for suggesting that I try one out! I found Tommy to be quite indispensable in guiding me towards the right guitar (for me) and then asking probing questions about my needs and expectations for the instrument such as string height, pickup selection, and installation as well as small details like swapping out the tailpiece for a preferred option. Tommy not only knows his instruments in and out, but he also does EXPERT repairs and setups- a set of skills that can make a great guitar sound G R E A T (and sound it's best). I've been playing gypsy guitars for 30 years and have never seen this level of commitment, understanding, and expertise.
